Прог-рок коллектив The Mars Volta анонсировал новый студийный альбом. Как пишет Rolling Stone, шестая по счету пластинка группы получила название "Noctourniquet" и будет выпущена 27 марта 2012 года.
В концепцию диска заложены истории превратившегося в зомби купца Соломона Гранди (одного из врагов Бэтмена и Супермена) и персонажа древнегреческого мифа Гиацинта, который был случайно убит Аполлоном. В "Noctourniquet" было решено включить 13 композиций.
Новость о предстоящем релизе пластинки "Noctourniquet" появилась вскоре после того, как участники The Mars Volta - Седрик Бикслер-Савала и Омар Родригес-Лопес - объявили о возрождении своего прежнего проекта At The Drive-In. Коллектив At The Drive-In собирается дать серию летних выступлений, и пока остается неясным, как Родригес-Лопес и Бикслер-Савала намереваются совмещать турне в поддержку "Noctourniquet" (если оно состоится) с деятельностью другого своего проекта.
Предыдущий альбом The Mars Volta - "Octahedron" - вышел в 2009 году.
